Blitz Beauty is a small business run by makeup artist Emily Peters out of Spokane, Washington, specializing in eyebrow microblading. All permanent makeup services are done by a licensed and certified brow tech using NPM International pigments.

What exactly is microblading?

It’s a brow technique in which the technician uses a tool with a row of very fine needles to draw hairlike strokes that mimic brow hairs. Despite being called “permanent makeup”, microblading is semipermanent and requires a touchup every 1-2 years, depending on a variety of factors, including skin type, sun exposure, and pigment color. While that may seem like a lot, the technique creates a much more natural look than traditional tattooing methods and the special type of ink used is cosmetic grade and designed to fade more naturally than tattoo inks, allowing you to have brows that never look fake, tattooed, discolored, or out of style.

Who is a candidate for microblading?

Anyone who’s tired of filling their brows in every morning. Microblading can be used to correct light colored or thin brow hair, no brow hair, gaps, faded out brow tattoos, or issues with brow shape.

What is the experience like?

When you come in for the procedure, you’ll fill out a quick form then get started. Any makeup will be wiped off and your skin sanitized in the brow area, then a topical anesthetic will be applied to reduce any discomfort. While that’s doing its job, your brow technician will map out your eyebrow shape to complement your face and eye shape and personal style. Next, the artist chooses the right color for you. You’ll have an opportunity to change anything you want about the shape, size, placement, and color. Initial strokes are placed, then numbing cream is applied again and the artist will wait a couple minutes for it to fully set in. Pigment is worked into each stroke to define the brow. The service will take about 1-2 hours. After the treatment, you’ll be given aftercare instructions and will apply ointment twice a day during the 2-4 week healing process. It’s normal for some pigment to fall out during healing, since the strokes are very shallow. You’ll schedule a follow up appointment, built into the original price, about 4-8 weeks after the initial procedure to fix any spots where this has happened.

Is microblading painful?

The procedure may be a bit uncomfortable for clients with sensitive skin, but anesthetic is applied frequently throughout the service to keep this to a minimum.
